This trick only works in Firefox, Opera and Safari. (Basically everything but IE.) Click and drag in the box on the left. Your scribbles will show when you let up on the mouse button.
If you want to save your work, right-click and select "View Background Image", then save the page. It will save as an honest-to-god bitmap.
